How Waste Affects Our Ocean

Did you know that if we keep on contaminating this world with plastic and non biodegradable items in 2050 the world will have more waste than fish? The ocean is turned into a huge trash can where people throw their garbage with no conscience of what they are doing. We need to take care of our ocean because it produces more than half of the atmosphera´s oxygen. Also we get a lot of our food in there so if we keep killing our fish and turtles, we will extinct them. So if you want to help the cause, you must recycle, reuse and reduce all of the things that you use daily.

  1. Certainly the pollution of the oceans due to waste, mainly non-degradable plastic, is a huge problem. But other kinds of pollutants like agricultural pesticides, untreated sewage, oil spills and nuclear waste are very harmful to the delicate ecosystem of our oceans. Also waste thrown in landfills can mix with rain water and filter through the soil, and ultimately making it to the ocean.

  2. I think our job as teenagers is to start taking conscience about our enviorment and try to make a diference. From collecting a piece of paper on the floor in our class room, to joinning an ecological movement. Everything makes a diference.

    1. As Anastasia said, we, as teenagers should start taking conscience about our planet. It is important to teach children how to take care of our enviroment. For example, we should teach them to throw trash on the right trash can, in other words, to recycle, reduse and reuse. Nowadays it is easy to recycle due to the fact that there are recycling bins at schools with a lable indicating the material that goes in it. Also, there are recycling places around neighbourhoods where people can throw their trash which contaminates less than throwing it to regular ones.

  3. Nowadays, countries throw their garbage into the ocean to make easy the process to get rid of waste. But this “easy process” on the long term is very bad for the entire world.
People must increase awareness about how bad the Earth it is righ now, before it is too late!
A very simple way to get rid of waste is recycling. You can do it everywhere, at school, work and home. So as you can see, there are not excuses to help the enviroment and if we help it, we would have Earth for many years to come.

  4. In my opinion our responsability as humans is to protect the animals and plants that make our lives as human beings remain normal without any unforeseen events caused by nature. People have to reconsider their individualistic and egocentric ideas and know that the only way to keep the planet surviving is to protect our valued enviroment. Finally I think education is the principal way to solve this problem and allow new generations to take advantage of nature.

  5. I'm happy you all agree that the ecosystem' s delicate balance depends on how we take care of our planet, and one way to do it is to be conscious about the waste we produce. In addition to what you have said, think of what happens to our broken tv? It´s cheaper to throw it away and buy a new one, but what happens to all that electronical waste, even in space?

  6. Regarding this matter I would like to add the fact that not only our oceans are in great danger, but our forests and green life have diminished its volume by at least a thirty percent over the last years due to the fact all over the world forests are being cut down in order to make space for livestock and that sort of industry. It is our duty as human beings to stop this sort of behavior and take care of our precios hearth.

    1. Yes, i agree with you. In fact, the danger that oceans and forest are going through is just the beginning that if we don't stop now it will end with a conscience that would be not only putting in danger animal but also human being and future generations. What will be of the future, our future, if we don't start taking conscience?

  7. I think that we are the ones who can change this problem during the next years because old generation didn’t know about the damage they were doing but now we know all the problems that this is producing and we are supposed to change our habits and try to do recycling ♻️ and teaching the new generations how to stop this big problem that can end with the human being.

  8. It is crystal clear we, human beings, are not trying hard enough to save our planet, a concrete proof of this the fact that as things are standing right now, it is proyected that by the year 2050 latin america will have lost fifteen percent of its flora and fauna, event that if it materializes will change our lives drasctically. It is responsablity of people of influence to use its power for the right, and help our earth be what is used to be in ancient times.

  9. it's worrying how people do not care about pollution, especially in our oceans. The planet earth is our common home but some people treat it as if we could get another one. For me the primal reason why people polute is money. It seems like nowadays money controls everybody and People are willing to do anything for a couple more bills even destroying their own home.
